Ever faithful denim remains uber-versatile and oh-so-wearable and Summer 2016’s hottest denim looks are set to shimmy you out of your basic jeans-and-t-shirt rut. We love its softer, lighter, breezier feel. Dress up with heels, or down with comfy flats, and be suitably styled for any occasion!

Pushing the boundaries of dutiful denim can be tricky, but this summer you’ll be able to extend your bluesy repertoire with a few exciting, new interpretations.

The denim dress is lighter and easier to wear and can be playfully feminine or super-elegant.

Summer is for showing off tanned legs in frayed denim shorts (if your knees and legs are slim and shapely) with delicate printed floral blouses.

Denim styles may come and go, but skinny jeans are here to stay.  Wear them high-waisted (perfect to disguise a fuller tummy), or cropped to accentuate sexy ankles in sneakers or nude sandals.  To balance out fuller hips, go for the latest retro look in 90s-style flared jeans.

Wear darker shades on the bottom half of your body and lighter shades on the top, to avoid looking top-heavy, especially if you have a fuller figure or you are short.

Texture is the season’s denim mantra, especially if you have a confident personality:

  • Distressed – ripped or shredded for an edgy, lived-in feel
  • Raw-edged – sporting an undone, seamless raw hem for a casual weekend look
  • Embellished – with sequins, lace or embroidery for a flirty designer-look.

A practical tip: Tone down the level of texture to avoid looking like mutton-dressed-as-lamb.

From super-chic to super-casual there is something for everyone this summer season – enjoy!
