Whether you work-out (or pretend to work-out!) this is an all-round comfortable, fashionable and totally casual wardrobe trend that continues to be on the rise.

‘Ath’ represents athletic apparel and ‘Leisure’ represents casual apparel. Athleisure is a look that can take you from school-drop-off, to your pilates class, onto the office, home via the shops and out for a casual dinner. With an ‘eat-well / live-well’ lifestyle that has become a somewhat taxing schedule, who has time for 2 or 3 outfits a day?!

This trend, however easy to follow, does come with some fashion faux pas to watch out for! It’s a look that is all about finding that happy medium so here are a few tips to help you get ready, steady athleisure wear go…

  • This look is great for casual days, or travelling, so dress according to what’s in your diary for the day
  • Good fit is essential – nothing too tight or too baggy
  • Mismatch the tracksuit – gone are the days of wearing a matching tracksuit top and bottom. Wear the tracksuit top with skinny jeans and the pants with a crop top or jacket
  • Don’t try too hard in the shoe department: Say yes to trainers, booties or slip-ons and say no to high-heels, pumps or dressy sandals – it’s all about being chic yet comfy
  • Invest in a good pair of trainers, scuffed or worn out trainers will tone down your overall polished look
