NUDE IS THE NEW BLACK

This summer, nude is the new black! Runways are showcasing nude creations from the hottest designers, along with well-dressed celebrities like Beyoncé and Kylie Jenner strutting amazing nude-toned outfits in the palest pinks, earthy neutrals and everything in between. Follow our style tips and ensure you stay fashionably ‘in the nude’.

When selecting nude clothing items, pick clear colours (energizing and radiant tones) to give your skin tone life and sparkle, in fabrics like silks, satins and chiffons to ensure an elegant, sophisticated and glamorous look. Avoid sludgy colours (opaque or murk tones) especially in T-shirt type fabrics, as they will drain your skin tone, making you appear tired and dull.

We love nude tones for its versatility, effortlessly taking you from sensual evening elegance in shimmer and sparkle, to smart office-chic; think nude-toned suits or shift dresses. Instantly add a level of casual by adding various shades of denim, from darker jeans for casual-smart sophistication, or opt for laid-back casual style with faded or white denim shorts and cut-offs or classic jeans. Style tip: Wear your nude items at the top if you are short, or if you have a fuller figure – dark colours at the top and light colours at the bottom can look top-heavy.

Dare to wear an all-nude outfit with same-colour items or accessories in darker nude tones (darker neutrals or metallics – and we love rose gold!) shows contemporary elegance, while clever statement pieces in contrasting colours spell fashion-forward fun – try pastels, bright colours or fun animal prints for fresh daytime style, or black for edgy evening chic. Nude footwear, whether sleek stilettos, 70s style wedges, ballerina flats or cute sandals are ultra-feminine and fabulous. Pairing a dress or skirt with nude heels can elongate your legs if you select a tone similar to your own skin tone, not lighter or darker than your skin tone.

Makeup to compliment this season’s neutral palette is naked too! Accentuate your eyes with earthy matte shadow for the day or shimmery smoky-brown for a smouldering night-time look. Take care to avoid looking washed out and drained by highlighting cheekbones and lips. Soft and Medium skin tones (pale and fair to golden skin tones) can choose from warm peach to pink / tawny blush shades, with natural, pink or brown lipsticks. Deep and Rich skin tones (lighter darker to darker skin tones) should opt for bronze / tawny brown blusher and lipsticks in warm shades of terracotta, gold or bronze. Complete this fabulous look with a nude nail polish.

Go glam and turn heads with this divine, effortless trend!
