With ‘shear’ determination, passion and a pair of sharp and slick scissors, Bernice Strever has turned her love of making magic with hair into a successful business. We decided to meet the woman behind the blow dryer and see what makes her scissors sing.

Ever since Bernice could remember she wanted to be a hairdresser. She recalls being an eight year old little girl with only one thing on her mind – styling hair. With her career path perfectly mapped out, Bernice got behind the styling chair 22 years ago and she hasn’t looked back since. As a salon owner for nearly 10 years she prides herself in providing an inspiring and nurturing environment for her staff.

She goes on to say that she wants to empower her staff to be part of her dream – and it’s this mutual respect and camaraderie that brings the best out of her troop of stylists. “I feel strongly about teamwork and leading through example” she says, “You need to be hands on, and because it’s my own business, I can never ‘stop’.” This involved attitude is what makes Bernice’s salon a place of sanctuary where customers will always get a professional and personal experience.

With so much motivation, passion and care going into her business, her staff and her skill, it goes to show if you have a good head of hair on your shoulders, no dream is out of reach!
