YOLANDA, 21: STUDENT

I was casting for makeovers for a fashion magazine when I spotted Yolanda in a shopping mall and promptly offered her a complimentary makeover. To my complete surprise, she said no – most women jump at the opportunity! When I asked her why, she amused me with her response. “I know exactly what you want to do. You want to take off all my makeup,” she said.

Truth be told, she was absolutely right. That was exactly what I had planned, so I had to think quickly. My instincts told me that Yolanda loved wearing makeup, so instead of removing it, I asked how she would feel if we applied even more makeup during her makeover. Without a moment’s hesitation, she agreed.

As promised, we created a full glamour look using the makeup shades from her Rich Colour Chart. That was the real secret behind her transformation. The soft blue eyeshadow she was wearing in the before photograph belongs on the Soft Colour Chart, but Yolanda has a Rich skin tone. By simply changing the makeup colours to those that harmonised with her natural colouring, the result was far more flattering while still delivering the glamorous look she loved.

To complete her transformation, our makeup artist selected the most incredible wig from his styling kit. It perfectly captured Yolanda’s vibrant personality.
