MERRIAM, 25: ACCOUNTANT

Merriam held a senior position that demanded confidence and credibility. The challenge was that everyone thought she looked much younger than she was. She wanted an image that reflected her professionalism while still looking modern, approachable and feminine. Merriam has a beautifully rounded face, but her hairstyle wasn’t complementing her features. The overall shape of her hairstyle made her face appear rounder. We opted for a sleek, chin-length bob with a deep side parting and sweeping side fringe. The asymmetrical shape visually elongated her face, while the clean lines gave her a polished, executive appearance. Merriam’s hair colour was enriched with a rich brown base and subtle dark blonde highlights, adding warmth, dimension and movement without looking overpowering. Merriam has beautiful skin, making it a pleasure to work with. During her colour consultation, I showed her the purple eyeshadow on her Chata Romano Colour Chart. Her immediate reaction was, “What?” She simply couldn’t imagine wearing purple. Once the eyeshadow was professionally applied and beautifully blended, she couldn’t believe the difference. The soft plum tones enhanced her eyes without looking obvious, proving that it’s not just the colour you wear, but how you wear it. Merriam attends a number of evening functions, so we created an understated glamour look that could easily transition from the boardroom to an evening event.
